In-Home Child Care Support for Marine Corps Recruiters
As a Marine Corps Recruiter, your mission requires long hours, frequent community engagement, and an unpredictable schedule. Balancing these professional demands with family life can be particularly challenging, especially in remote areas where traditional military child care services, such as Child Development Centers (CDC) or School Age Care (SAC) programs, are not readily available. To support you and your family, Family Child Care (FCC) provides a flexible and personalized solution tailored to meet your unique needs.
What is Family Child Care?
Family Child Care, commonly referred to as in-home child care, offers professional, licensed, and certified child care providers who operate out of their homes. These providers create a structured, safe, and nurturing environment designed to promote the well-being and development of children from infancy to school age.
How Family Child Care Benefits Marine Corps Recruiters
Flexible Hours
As a recruiter, your workday may extend beyond standard business hours. FCC providers often offer extended and weekend care options that accommodate non-traditional schedules, ensuring your child receives consistent and reliable care.
Personalized Attention
Unlike large child care centers, FCC homes typically have a low provider-to-child ratio, allowing for individualized attention and fostering strong caregiver-child relationships.
Remote Locations
For recruiters stationed away from Marine Corps installations, finding on-base child care is not an option. FCC offers a network of trained providers in civilian communities, ensuring child care access wherever you are assigned.
Structured Learning and Development
FCC providers follow developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities to encourage learning, creativity, and socialization. Your child benefits from an environment that promotes early education, social skills, and motor development in a home-like setting.
Affordable and Military-Approved Options
Many FCC providers participate in the Military Child Care in Your Neighborhood (MCCYN) program, which helps cover costs through fee assistance programs. This ensures that you receive high-quality care at an affordable rate, comparable to on-base child care fees.
Regulated and Certified for Safety
All FCC providers must meet strict health, safety, and training requirements set by the Department of Defense (DoD). This includes background checks, inspections, and ongoing professional development to ensure the highest standards of care. How to Find and Enroll in In-Home Child Care

Financial Assistance Resources
Military Child Care and Financial Assistance for Marines
As a Marine, balancing your career and family life is essential. The Department of Defense (DoD) and Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) provide a range of child care options and financial assistance programs to help offset the cost of care. These programs ensure you have access to affordable, high-quality child care, whether stationed near a Marine Corps installation or in a remote area.
Child Care Options Available to You
On-Base Child Care
If you're stationed near a Marine Corps installation, you can take advantage of Child & Youth Programs (CYP), which include:
Child Development Centers (CDC) – Full-day care for children 6 weeks to 5 years old in a structured, safe environment.
Family Child Care (FCC) – Licensed providers offering in-home child care for infants to school-age children with flexible hours.
School Age Care (SAC) – Before and after-school programs for children ages 5 to 12.
Youth & Teen Programs – Engaging activities and support for children up to age 18.
Off-Base Child Care Assistance (MCCYN)
If you are assigned to an area without on-base child care, the Military Child Care in Your Neighborhood (MCCYN) program helps cover the cost of civilian child care providers so you pay a rate similar to on-base CDC fees.
Eligibility:
You must be an Active Duty Marine or activated Reserve Marine.
You must have a verified need for child care due to work or school obligations.
Your chosen provider must be state-licensed and meet DoD quality standards.
How It Works:
You pay a reduced parent fee, while the DoD covers the difference between what you would pay at an on-base CDC and the actual civilian provider's rate.
This program is managed through Child Care Aware of America (CCAoA).
Financial Assistance Programs to Reduce Your Child Care Costs
Total Force Child Care Fee Assistance
This program helps you cover child care costs when on-base facilities are unavailable or full.
How It Works:
The Marine Corps subsidizes a portion of your child care expenses.
You pay a reduced, income-based fee.
Assistance applies to licensed civilian child care providers.
Child Care Fee Structure Based on Your Income
Your child care fees are based on Total Family Income (TFI), ensuring affordability.
