Oscar Mike Hill Challenge®

Come test your physical strength and speed as you run up Engineer Hill while picking up gear (rifle, ammo can, pack) along the way. Sign up for multiple wave times to try and improve your time and make the podium. Sprint to the top!

Oscar Mike Hill Challenge^® is the third race of the 2026 Tactical Triad^® and our brand new SURVIVE THE FIVE™. Run in three of our five trail runs to receive a Tactical Triad medal.

If you run all five races, you will receive a custom Survive the Five™ t-shirt! The Five Races are: Heartbreak Ridge Run^®, Run to the Radar^®, Oscar Mike Hill Challenge^®, Buffalo Alley^® Trail Run and Tun Tavern Ten^®. Tactical Triad^® medals will be handed out after you complete your third race. Survive The Five™ t-shirts will be given out at Tun Tavern Ten® in November.

Oscar Mike Hill Challenge^® is open to Active Duty, their families, MIL Retirees, and authorized base patrons. 

• Online pre-registration recommended – register early to reserve your preferred wave time.

SCHEDULE
7:30am – Check-In and Venue Opens
8:10am – Wave 1 Start
Additional Waves every 20 Minutes

• A "Top 3" finisher board will be on site to track podium winners.
• Awards to top three M/F fastest times.
• A running clock will be provided at the top of the hill to check your time as you finish.
• Awards/Prizes will be presented after the last wave finishes. If you cannot stay, your award will be mailed to you.

1. Take the Las Pulgas exit and head east towards the Las Pulgas gate.
2. Continue 4-miles on Las Pulgas Road then turn right at Basilone Road. 
3. Turn left at Vandegrift, stay on Vandegrift for three miles.
4. Left at 19th Street
5. Right on G Street then follow the signs to the race venue and parking area.

1. Take the Camp Pendleton/Harbor Drive exit.
2. Enter the main gate and continue on Vandegrift for 10 miles then turn left at 19th Street.
3. Right on G Street then follow the signs to the race venue and parking area.

1. Enter the San Luis Rey gate and continue on Vandegrift for four miles.
2. Right on 19th Street.
3. Right on G Street then follow the signs to the race venue and parking area.

• 13+ age limit (for safety, please adhere to the age limit).
• No headphones/ear buds allowed.
• No strollers/dogs due to rough terrain.
• Event is held rain or shine (unless deemed unsafe).
• Pendleton Races has the right to modify the course if necessary for safety or base training exercises.
• There will be a 12-minute time limit to run the 1K (.62/mile) distance and reach the top of the hill (with a little wiggle room).
