May Food Donation Collection

Help make a difference! All month long, we are collecting food donations for Help Oki to distribute to local homeless shelters, domestic violence shelters, social welfare organizations, orphanages, and more.
Kinser Blood Drive
Date: Monday, May 11
Time: 11 a.m.–3 p.m.
Location: Kinser
Type: Volunteer
Monthly Blood Drive is open to all eligible SOFA service members and civilians. Appointments can be booked at the SMP Center or by using the QR code that's listed on the flyer.
Asakatsu Coffee Social
Date: Wednesday, May 13
Time: 7:30–8:30 a.m.
Location: Kinser
Type: Volunteer
Monthly collaboration event with U.S. Consulate at Urasoe Barclay's Starbucks. Participants practice english conversational skills with locals during this monthly volunteer opportunity. Reach out to Kinser SMP to sign up. Participants must sign up ahead of time to be able to participate and receive a LOA. Volunteers must be at least 18 years-old.
Courtney Blood Drive
Date: Thursday, May 14
Time: 11 a.m.–3 p.m.

Earn a LOA while supporting your local community. In general, donators should: be feeling well and healthy for at least 3 days, weigh at least 110lbs, have not received a tattoo in Okinawa for at least 3 months, and know their immunization history.
Hansen Blood Drive

Blood drive at the Hansen SMP in support of the Okinawa blood bank. LOA provided by the Navy Blood Bank.
Schwab Gardening Day
Date: Friday, May 15
Time: 5–6 p.m.

Join us for a day of gardening and camaraderie as we work together to beautify the SMP! Help plant flowers, trim greenery, and enhance the outdoor space for everyone to enjoy. No experience needed—just bring a positive attitude and a willingness to get your hands dirty! Tools and supplies provided. Dress for outdoor work! No prior signup required.
Foster Gardening Day
Date: Saturday, May 16
Time: noon–1 p.m.

Camp Cleanup
Date: Saturday, May 16
Time: 12:30–2 p.m.

Camp Hansen beautification consist of walking around Camp Hansen picking up trash to keep the camp clean. Participants will meet at the Camp Hansen SMP at 12:15 p.m. and cleanup will begin at 12:30 p.m. LOA's will be avaible five days after the event.
Community Cleanup

Time: 12:30–1:30 p.m.
Location: Futenma
Type: Volunteer
Pick up trash around Futenma Main Gate Hill for 1 hour. Trash bags and gloves are provided from SMP center. LOA provided for time.
Sunabe Seawall Cleanup
Date: Saturday, May 16
Time: 11 a.m.–2 p.m.
Location: Foster
